Steep Falls is a wonderful little village nestled in the town of Standish and also happens to be where I live. From the moment we moved here, this community has felt like home. From the parks to the farms, this village is the perfect rural setting smack dab between Portland and the White Mountains. With several events throughout the year including cornhole tournaments, family fun days, farmers markets, and Christmas Caroling, there is often something going on to bring the community together. As the President of the Steep Falls Village Improvement Society, I can attest to the amount of pride the residents feel living in, or being from Steep Falls. If you're looking for a new home, don't forget to look in Steep Falls.
Steep Falls Village Preserve Trails
The Preserve's trailhead is located at the end of Mill Street, which branches off Route 113 in Standish. The main trail area features three loops that wind through meadows and woods, with the smallest loop being about a quarter-mile long and the largest about a half-mile. There's also a quarter-mile spur trail that leads through evergreen woods to a scenic lookout over Tucker Brook and the surrounding wetlands. Most of the trail is relatively flat and easy, although the wooded sections have some uneven terrain.
Pine Root Farm
This farm is near and dear to my heart. It's where we as a family go get our pumpkins every year. But more than that, it's just a wonderful place to go and grab homemade baked goods and products almost all year long; As a matter of fact, next weekend they are hosting an "Ice Cream Social!:" If you're looking for me, that's where I'll be! Acres Of Wildlife Campground
Enjoy a staycation here in Steep Falls. This campground is beloved by many. With an event calendar packed through fall, and a massive facility offering any kind of recreation you can think of, you must check out this place. You won't be sorry.
