Our newest listing at 17 Poplar Street is on beautiful Swan Pond. Changing things up a little for this month's newsletter, we will be highlighting Swan Pond and its sister pond, Kennebunk. These two ponds located in Lyman stand out for several reasons. Their proximity in York county makes them very easy to get to whether you’re from Portland or Portsmouth, Boston or beyond. Second, their water quality is amazing due to the fact they’re both spring fed ponds. This lends itself to many opportunities like paddling, swimming, wildlife watching and fishing. Swan pond is private, with no public access which means even on the hottest days of summer you will have it to yourself. The bass fishing is one of the best local spots around due to the inaccessibility (even better reason to own a lakehouse on Swan)! Bass weighing several pounds are not uncommon to catch here, both smallmouth and largemouth. You will also be greeted by loons as well as the resident bald eagles. Kennebunk Pond, with its public beach and boat launch allow for greater public opportunity for recreation. This pond is annually stocked with Brook trout, and it’s not uncommon to see triathletes practicing their swimming. Swan in Kennebunk are both relatively small ponds, 132 and 199 acres, so it’s possible to explore in a single day trip.
