Looking for an economical way to give your home a facelift?
Painting the front door is one of the fastest and easiest ways to refresh the appearance of your home. In just a day and a few steps you can have a newer looking house.
Step 1. Pick out a paint color and shine (Semi gloss to glossy works best for outside doors). I like to look at the flowers around my house and see what colors they are and if any really pop and stick out and go well with my house.
Step 2. Look at the weather. You want a day where it is not too hot, but not too cold. You don’t want it to be rainy or have just rained. You want it to be warm enough for the pain to dry.
Step 3. Wash the door with soap and water. Let it dry.
Step 4. Remove hardware or tape around hardware and any windows.
Step 5. Paint the door with a primer and let it fully dry.
Step 6. Paint the door with long brush strokes. 2-3 coats of paint should do the trick, but don’t be afraid to add more.
Step 7. Add new hardware to give the door a brand new look.
