The holiday season is filled with magic, but if you're like me this year, the spirit has been a bit elusive  With two young children. the bah-humbuging simply won't do.  So, we're pulling out all the stops. We are deep-diving into all things sparkly, red or green, places that induce merriment, and eating ALL the sweets. And just in case you yourself require some assistance with a Santa summons, I've compiled a list for you to check out.  It's time to bundle up, hop in the car, and crank up the Mariah Carey, Let's Get Holidaying.

Christmas at Victoria Mansion
This stop is a long-standing tradition spanning decades for many families.  Take a step back in time and visit this historical landmark in downtown Portland. You can find the program from this year's theme here. I checked, and there are many tickets still available for multiple dates!

Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad, The Polar Express ™
This one is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.  Board the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroads' historic steam engine at the Ocean Gateway entrance.  When we went, there were families of all ages, including a large group of adults hoping to find some Christmas magic.  And boys, did we.  Hot chocolate was served, songs were sung, and Santa boarded the train with gifts for the kids. Tickets are still available for a variety of dates.  Moms, bring your tissues. Watching the kids experience this is truly magical.

Portland Symphony Orchestra | Magic of Christmas
This looks amazing.  I haven't been but I'm clearing my calendar and buying tickets to this immediately.    To pair the talents of the Portland Symphony Orchestra with the visual effects of the Cirque de la Symphonie, I imagine this to be a magical and memorable evening for all attendees.  Also, if you are on a bit of Wicked kick like I am, here's a little tidbit. "The PSO’s first performance of Magic of Christmas was narrated by Margaret Hamilton, best known for portraying The Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. Fortunately, this choice didn’t land the PSO on the naughty list that year!"
